Spoof Introduction
To Spoof or not to Spoof, is the question. However either answer has its outcomes. Without the spoofs the story would lack a lighter side, and would focus on only the key things going on, but with the spoofs come a chance to explore a far lighter side of the webcomic.
BURNING FINGER!
"This comic of mine is burning red! It's loud panels tell me to sketch victory!" The series G-Gundam focuses on the character Domon as he hunts for his brother after the horrible death of his family. When using his Gundam's mighty final attack (the Shining Finger) he gives an epic speech about how it's "burning."
Real Ninjas?
Most ninjas will be stealthy and wear black. Well the popular anime ninja, Naruto (from the series Naruto) wear bright orange coats and tends to be loud. This behavior is far from a true ninja so in this strip Naruto and Aoshi have a meeting and this is how it goes.
FIGHTING SPIRIT!
This one pokes fun at the series Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, and the character Kamina who gives weird hot-blooded speeches with his finger raised!
It's Headband Time!
This spoof pokes fun at my best friend, Jones. The character Jones on Team Himura is based off of this real life friend, and he also loves his headbands!
BANKAI!
Greed's sword the "Kyoshin" (it's name) is a sword with many different forms. In the popular anime Bleach the Shinigami (Soul Reapers) have swords that also change shape. So I put Greed into the position of Ichigo from Bleach, and had Greed's blade turn into Ichigo's "Bankai" (final release).
Computers have Left me in Despair...
This spoofs the comments made by the main character in the anime "Sayanora Zetsubou Sensei." The character is constantly thrown into despair by various things in the positive world around him.
Power Levels
Okay. Who hasn't thought of this? In the series "Dragonball/DBZ" when a character powers up and goes "Super Saiyan" their hair gets spiky(er) and grows. Here Jones fights Oppert, and lets his power level hit the maximum. Or is it...(they only get stronger and stronger...)
Issues with Playing Halo
Halo is so popular and awesome. Well...It would be if people like this didn't play. There is always the idiot with the rocket launcher. Always that one guy who kills everyone with the sniper rifle. Then you get the moron in the Tank. You just have to love playing Halo with these people!
RPG Drama
In the world of the MMORPG (geeky online gaming like World of Warcraft) there exists a type of player that no one likes. That person is know as the "Kill-Stealer." Every person that has played an MMO has experienced them and their evil ways. Taking our kills, out loot, and more importantly; our experience points.
WE CARRY ON!!!
"THROUGH THE FIRE AND THE FLAMES! WE CARRY ON!" Was exactly what Himura was thinking in this strip. In the game "Guitar Hero 3" the song "Though the Fire and Flames" by Dragonforce is a song that challenges most (if not all player) who dare challenge its fury! Himura took the words WAY to literal and envisions Touse riding him through "The Fire and Flames."
My Brian Hurts...
Does anyone else remember the catchy tune from the "Animaniacs'" (or however you spell it) spin off called "Pinky and the Brain." Well an idea came to me when I was thinking about that show and my comic (Don't ask my head goes were it wants). And so was born the short conversation between Touse and Oppert of the evil(ish) Corporation that wishes to take control of Hightou (maybe even the world? Who knows?).
Metal Gear Solid: Senseistance
Between the tactical action, the weird enemies, or the copious amount of CQC, Metal Gear is a legendary game about the most bad ass of all heroes to come from the gaming world. This man can defeat weird psychics, take down enormous mechs, and hide under a box from the mass armies of genome soldiers. Solid snake is a man among legends!
Why so Serious?
To celebrate the release of the new Batman Movie, a friend and comically inspiration of mine wanted me to do a strip involving the ever funny Executive Gomer playing the role of movie goer dressing as the Joker in the "The Dark Knight". The Joker looks really creepy in the coming film. Just a few hours to go! (11:06am)
I <3 Fireworks!
A friend of mine is an enormous fan of fireworks. At one point we made a 5 hour trip out of town just to get some amazing fireworks for our friends return from the marines for the holiday weekend. Some would say that an entire truck full of fireworks is a little much, but to my friend it's only a good start. To him there is room for improvement in the size of the load.
Dry-O-Matic 9000
The man who inspired this is a creative genius. Well... an evil creative genius. Thanks to his creativity I can't get the images of this "demonic" laundry tool out of my head. The terror this things brings to my heart is like nothing it has faced before. Look for this new character, Scott, to appear from time to time. He's the head of infomercial's for the corporation. What other evil and devilish products can this man pump out? Is the world ready for them?
Fite da Powah!?
One of the most epic songs from the anime "Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann" says the words, "ROH ROH FITE DA POWAH!" about a thousand times. It got driven into my head. It's a fun song though, that displays what it means to be a man!
